Six elements that cannot be ignored in the correct selection of air compressors!
Nov 02, 2022
Air compressor is an important production power supply equipment, scientific selection and purchase is very important for users.
1. Consider exhaust pressure and exhaust volume
The air volume of the selected air compressor should match the required exhaust volume, leaving at least 10% margin. If the air end is far away from the air compressor, or there is a small amount of budget for adding new air tools in the near future, you can Increase the margin to 20%.
If the amount of air used is large and the displacement of the air compressor is small, the air tool cannot be driven. If the air consumption is small and the exhaust volume is large, the air compressor will increase the number of loading and unloading, or the air compressor will run at low frequency for a long time, resulting in energy waste.
When selecting an air compressor, the formula is:
Air demand = all tools + machinery and equipment + related process air consumption + leakage + wear + future air consumption + service factor (1.1 to 1.2).
In addition, when selecting the exhaust volume, the peak consumption, normal consumption and low-peak consumption should also be considered, whether the air consumption of the workshop section is stable or fluctuating, for example: when the production pressure and air consumption of workshop A are basically the same, the air compressor needs to be normally on , power frequency series or permanent magnet series can be used; the gas consumption and pressure fluctuations of workshop B are relatively large, and some of the gas equipment is normally open, so it is more suitable to choose the permanent magnet series. If the gas consumption of multiple workshops is not uniform, then use Multiple air compressors with smaller discharge volumes are connected in parallel to obtain larger discharge volumes, and start up one by one as the air consumption increases to save energy.
The exhaust pressure of the air compressor refers to the gas pressure (gauge pressure) that is finally discharged from the compressor, and the unit is: Mpa. "Kg" is commonly used as a pressure unit in the industry, 1 kg = 0.1Mpa.
The exhaust pressure marked on the nameplate of the air compressor is called the rated exhaust pressure. When selecting a model, you should not only pay attention to the exhaust pressure on the nameplate, but should evaluate the entire gas system, considering the pressure drop and pressure loss. Generally speaking: The final determined working pressure = end user + final filter + pipeline system + dust filter + dryer + compressor adjustment range.
When selecting models, the operating pressure of various models should also be listed. If the operating pressure differs too much, you must purchase air compressors with different pressures. Do not use with reduced pressure to increase costs.
2. Consider energy efficiency and specific power
The energy efficiency level of the air compressor is evaluated by the specific power value, that is, the power of the air compressor/the air output of the air compressor.
First-level energy efficiency: the product has reached the international advanced level, the most energy-saving, and the lowest energy consumption;
Secondary energy efficiency: relatively energy-saving;
Three-level energy efficiency: the average energy efficiency of the Chinese market.
3. Consider the occasions and conditions of gas use
If the ventilation condition is good and the installation space is available, it is more suitable to choose an air cooler; when the air consumption is large and the water quality is better, it is more suitable to choose a water cooler.
4. Consider compressed air quality
The common standard for compressed air quality and purity is GB/T13277.1-2008, and the international standard IS08573-1:2010 is commonly used for oil-free machines.
The compressed air produced by the oil-injected screw air compressor contains micro oil particles, water, and fine dust particles. The compressed air is purified by configuring air storage tanks, cold dryers, precision filters and other post-processors, and some of the air used is of high quality. In some cases, a suction dryer can be configured for further filtration.
The compressed air of the oil-free air compressor can achieve very high air quality. All the compressed air produced by the Baldor oil-free series has reached the CLASS 0 standard of the ISO 8573 standard.
The quality of compressed air required depends on the needs of the products produced, production equipment and pneumatic tools. If the compressed air is not up to standard, it will lead to a decline in the quality of the product, or it will damage the production equipment. However, the higher the purity, the better. Excessively pure compressed air will increase the purchase cost of equipment and increase the waste of electricity.
5. Consider the safety of air compressor operation
The air compressor is a machine that works under pressure. The air storage tank with more than 1 cubic meter belongs to special production equipment, and its operation safety should be put in the first place.
When selecting an air compressor, the user must check the production qualification of the air compressor manufacturer to ensure the product quality of the air compressor.
6. Consider the manufacturer's after-sales service
The maintenance during the warranty period is directly in the charge of the manufacturer or service provider, but there are still certain unknowable factors in the use process. When the air compressor fails, whether the after-sales service is timely and the maintenance level is professional are issues that users must care about.
